For the Open Doors Day at the University in Zweibrücken a portal website was needed to handle the schedule and management of lectures, presentations and demos finding place on campus. It's goal was to help students and guests orientation on campus grounds.
The website is built using Java, JSP and the Struts Framework and uses heavily Ajax and JavaScript - mainly for its administration area and content management. It's designed in a similar manner to the University website to be easily integrated without confusing guests and other interested parties. Several interactive Flash elements were integrated into the Campusguide including an map of University grounds with quick links to many points of interest.
The Joy of Use of the application was a very important aspect during the implementation and therefore the website was evaluated against several usability heuristics and undergone many usability tests to perfect the application workflow.
